Restoring honor in DC

This past week we went on vacation to Washington D.C. for Justin's b-day!  If you don't know - Justin loves Glen Beck, and when we heard there was a rally in D.C. I knew he had to go.  Thanks to Justin's parents who so kindly bought our plane tickets and accompanied us, we had a blast.  There were way more than a half-million people there. It was incredible!  We happened to stay in a super sweet hotel not to far from the White House and all other major memorials including Jefferson and Lincoln.  The day before the rally we went to check out Lincoln memorial where the event was being held and we happened to be right there crossing paths with Glen and his aunt-rouge . Justin's dad got to shake his had.  We were super jealous.
Justin helping {k} cool off.  He loves this picture because it looks like he is peeing.  Such a guy thing, such a dad!
There were Sooooo many people there, everyone so kind and nice.
Happy Birthday Justin!  You are so loved....

Emergency Tooth Fairy needs help

EMERGENCY
That is what Justin saw in his txt from me this morning at O a 6:30am (He is working graves and should have been home at 6).  Kyle came in my bed room and was super sad.  "Mom, something really bad happened. Pause. The tooth fairy didn't come and my tooth is still under my pillow."   mom (in my head):  AHHH CRAP!  So I had him climb in my bed and convinced him that it is technically night time, and that he/she is still probably making the rounds.  I turned my phone on silent and quickly txt'd Justin the above message. Luckily Kade was in bed with me and was fusing, so I told Kyle I would be back, I was going to put Kade back to bed - right!  So then I frantically try to hide the tooth (it was in a baggy so tooth fairy could find it.-don't you find that funny) and then tried find a dollar.  Couldn't find one, so I stole a dollar out of Kyle's own piggy bank.  Now how bad of a mom am I?  Really. I went back into bed, then seconds later Justin comes haulin' in the door trying to find money.  We are a joke...  Heaven help me on the next 14 teeth or however many there are!

Blueberry cake bars

Blueberry Cake Bars
1 package yellow cake mix
2 sticks of butter, melted
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups of fresh blueberries
1/2 cup sugar

Place first 6 ingredients in bowl and mix thoroughly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of this mixture for the topping and set aside. Pour remaining batter into a greased 9x13 pan. Press into bottom of pan. Place blueberries and sugar in bowl to combine. Pour onto the crust. Scatter pieces of reserved crust mixture over top. Bake at 350 until light brown about 40-45 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

I found this recipe on Little Birdie Secrets, it looked so yummy.  Luckily for me, I still have blueberries from bountiful baskets, so I decided to give it a try.  Definitely recommend it, however I used a pineapple cake mix instead and boy was it sweet. Next time I'll just stick with recipe!

Ain't nothin' but a hound dog

 SOLD!
Guess what the wind blew in and the wife blew out?  Ranger - our new hound dog as of Wednesday night.  Guess who we sold tonight (Sunday)? Ranger!  Justin did it again...  Last summer Justin got "Buddy" Satan's span.  After several months of large stinky poop, our yard almost in ruin (the list goes on) we got rid of him.  This summer we he went for a cute cuddly puppy.  I must admit he was super cute and fun.  Until night time and then the switch flipped.  This little yaper yaps all night. I'm not kidding- I have eye bags to prove it.  We researched teaching dogs not bark. It suggested spraying the face with water.  So at 2 in the morning I finally grabbed a cup and was throwing water on it, but then it started drinking it... not my initial intention!  This morning Ranger found himself on KSL and who can resist.  Sleep tight ______. Hope you are glad you bought him come morning.  I know I will sleep tight - Sucker!
(Side note:  I have a commitment from J-dawg that we are not ever going to have another dog while we are in this house.  You are my witness blogger.)

In honor of Ranger

And the winner is....

Today was a great day at the park.  It should be, after all that is where this whole idea started in the first place. Fitting really.  I have some fantastic friends who gave some great advice and ideas!  So tomorrow I am getting a business license and the name on the license will be Udderly Me.  I like it, I do.  It's deep, don't think about to much though...your head might hurt like mine.  I have been thinking so much about this business venture that I need a break for tonight.  Justin rented a movie from net flix and won't tell me what it is. A Surprise!!!  There are so little surprises in our life anymore that I haven't even tried to peek. He's at Walmart right now and I could be peeking but I won't.

There are several things that I need to tell you!  Tomorrow I will do so. One thing is little and the others are even smaller.  (Think Size)...

What's in a name?

OK, here it goes.  I love the name Udderly Fat, but I have had some good critical advice from some gals who know what they are talking about. I am worried that the term "fat" could be taken offensively and that is never my intention. It was suggested that Udderly Covered would be a great name, however there is of course already "udder covers" (Lame get your own material!) so obviously I cannot use that.   So now I am conducting a focus group.  Want to help?  Great!  Please vote and I would love to hear your comments-opinions.  I will not be offended, I want real opinions!

Thanks!
Love,
No name.

Udderly Fat Covers Debut

Udderly Fat Covers are here!  This is the one I have finally made for myself.
I love these covers for several reasons are here's why:
  • Regular nursing cover in front with boning and adjustable strap around neck (however this is where it gets good...)
  • When needing the back cover it quickly snaps on each shoulder.  These snaps hold the back cover in place.
  • Ribbon ties on each side keeps the cover closed but still allowing arms to move freely in and out. I also love the ties because they safe-guard me from gusty winds that tend to come whenever I decide to nurse!
  • Keeps me comfortable at the pool, park, lake..etc - I promise you won't want to leave the house without it!
{Side note:  Better pictures, info and ordering info soon to come.}

What will the neighbors think: Table edition?

So this is the yard sale find from Saturday.  Props must go out to my mini-van who hauled this thing home with two suitcases, four people and loads of other crap. Isn't she great!  I can't wait to get my hands on her...

and check this out...

20$ now that is a steal!  Yard Sale advice: always offer lower.  My cheap-skate brother-in-law says offer half the price.  I'm a chicken and tend to not shoot that low, but really what are they going to do - shoot you? It's worth the shot (no pun intended) and he usually is never told no.  Go early- really early.  The early bird gets the worm. Make it a game with kids and give them a couple quarters to shop with.  My kids think it's fun to spot the signs and pretend we are treasure hunting!  (but really I am teaching them to be thrifty and slightly ghetto. Shhh!)  Last but not least, when you find yourself in a large town (other than the one I live in) on a Saturday morning- go shop.  It really is fun!

What will the neighbors think?

Welcome to my first post of what will the neighbors think!  Let me explain how this came about... I like projects, there I said it.  Over the years (since we bought this house) when "doing" my projects they usually tend to done in my garage or front yard.  We (hubby and I) have done a million things - some day maybe I will show you (if you're bored enough).  But this most recent redo is what I attribute this title to. These bad boys!  The rocking chairs were given to us by some some good ol' neighbor friends who where moving.  The chairs were white and in poor condition from the weather.  Instead of going the predictable route of painting them black I wanted some punch.  Can anybody say School bus yellow!  Bauhaus Gold looks pretty right - nice and sunny.  Ah ya the chairs looked liked - well ugly.

No one neighbor said they were cute. Only "fun" which means UGLY. And I hated them, embarrassed was I, but I had to let the neighbors think I had lost it. So there they sat for several days until my pride got the better of me and I repainted them Peekaboo Blue by Krylon.  My neighbor whose name starts with a "J" said she hated them and wanted me to remember the name of the paint so that I would never buy that color again. NICE. ( I guess she has some say since she had to see them whenever she opened her blinds.) There you have it and there they sit.  Not predictable, but fresh. Fresh I like!

In the mean time

So while I am "working" I thought I would give you some food for thought.  I have a friend that has started this blog which has become quite successful.  Her latest post is about wall stenciling.  I like it. I think I must do it in my kitchen.  What do you think?  Also I am going to create a section of this blog titled "what will the neighbors think?" It has everything to do with my yard sale find yesterday.  Did you know that St. George is a must if you want a successful yard sale session.  It just is.

Still Working

Still working on my new creations... Are you wondering what they could be?  My cute sis-in-law will appreciate this teaser..."I've got your back"!   I have been sewing like crazy and been shopping for super steals.  Tomorrow I am going to reveal my latest yard sale find - can't wait.  In the mean time the TOOTH FAIRY has been to our house, last night infact.  Am I getting old?  Justin says "yes."  Hum, to bad his birthday is 29 days away -he he he!
